Medical Director, Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, (CNMC), Ambulatory Services


The Medical Director, CNMC, Ambulatory Services is under the direct supervision of the Associate Chief Medical Officer, CNMC and works in the line of support of the CMO and the Undersecretary of Medical Staff and Quality. When an Associate Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is not present, the Medical Director, CNMC, Ambulatory Services reports directly to the CMO.


The Medical Director, CNMC, Ambulatory Services works independently, solves problems and assume responsibility for all clinical care activities within their service oversight areas. The position provides leadership to the Department Chiefs of Primary Care, CNDH OMECO Family Medicine Residency Program, Pediatrics, Employee Health, Public Health, Medical Specialties, Psychiatry, Pharmacy Clinic, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Optometry, Behavioral Health and Home Health. The Medical Director is also responsible for clinical collaboration and clinical oversight for Outpatient Respiratory Therapy, Outpatient Physical Therapy, Outpatient Dietary Services, Outpatient Social Work, and other departments. New services will be added in coming years to include Complimentary Medicine, Sports Medicine, Pain Medicine, Developmental Pediatrics and others which will be under the Medical Directors line of responsibility.


The Medical Director, CNMC, Ambulatory Services serves as a contemporary dyad partner representing the clinical administrative functions with Service Line Directors in areas of supervision and is partnered functionally with the Executive Officers (EO)s of the respective services.

Supervision Essential Job Functions:


  • Work Location:
    Onsite at CNMC 5 days a week, Monday-Friday and available by phone other days of week for administrative call.
  • Clinical FTE:
    20% of the time will be spent in clinical practice.
  • Administrative FTE:
    80% of the time will generally be spent in administrative practice. This may flex during times of high service need where more clinical time may be needed and is directed by the CMO and Associate CMO.

Minimum Qualifications:


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess and/or be willing to develop and enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential job functions.
  • Be able to document that he/she has been working in a medical staff leadership setting during the last 12 months. Similar experience may be submitted for consideration as well. Candidates should have demonstrated medical staff leadership experience of a minimum of 6 months to 3
    years.

  • Preferred Training (3 -5 years) - Previous 3-5 years experience as a Department Chief or 2-5 years as a Medical Director and a verifiable record of performance.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Other:


  • Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.) from US accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited US residency.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the ABMS or AOABOS
  • Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), HealthCare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), or other similar clinical leadership masters level degree.
  • Completion of a quality or leadership training program or fellowship is highly desired.
  • Must have clinical privileges and be approved to practice in a clinical specialty of need by the CNDH Credentialing Committee, the CNDH Medical Executive Committee, the CMO, the CNDH Advisory Board, and the Secretary of CNDH.

Required Certificates:


  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in one of the 50 United States and within Oklahoma within 90 days of hire.

  • Current BLS (within 30 days of hire)
  • Current ACLS (If required for clinical specialty, within 30 days of hire)
