Clinical Informatics Manager General Description:
The Clinical Informatics Manager serves as a leader/ while acting as the bridge between the Health IT department and the rest of the healthcare facility.
This position requires healthcare operations, computer science, and information technology knowledge.
It demands a good understanding of business and leadership.
The Clinical Informatics Manager will serve as a leader and a subject matter expert during the implementation of Epic and post-go-live, ensuring that the Epic environment meets the needs of the Chickasaw Nation Departments of Health and Family Services staff and patients.
The Clinical Informatics Manager will serve as a coordinator and is responsible for consulting with the service lines and their staff in optimizing the Epic environment and staff training.
The Clinical Informatics Manager will be responsible for knowing the third-party applications that will be integrated with the Epic system and how the departments within the Departments of Health and Family Services use these applications.
They will supervise the Clinical Informatics Coordinators (CICs) and will be responsible for a broad range of activities surrounding implementing a comprehensive, standardized, integrated healthcare information system.

Clinical Informatics Coordinators Supervision Essential Job Functions:
Understand the business needs and workflow of the multiple operations of the Chickasaw Nation Departments of Health and Family Services, including but not limited to inpatient, ambulatory, ancillary, revenue cycle, and technical services to deliver Epic and required third-party applications Responsible for providing the leadership, direction, coordination of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and upgrade of clinical information systems for the Chickasaw Nation Departments of Health and Family Services, to improve health care delivery, workflow, and documentation processes.
Leads the organization from the clinical informatics perspective to create an effective clinical data and information system strategy.
Function as an expert consultant in strategic and tactical planning to meet organizational needs for clinical information systems and associated workflow.
Participate in developing policies and procedures relative to clinical information management systems.
Participates in clinical information systems installation and upgrade projects.
Assure that clinical informatics projects are implemented following HIPAA, Information and Clinical Governance Policies, Corporate Compliance Guidelines, and any other applicable rule and regulations for the business or the industry by coordinating with regulatory departments.
Compare the different alternatives to medical technology and/or clinical informatics applications and make technical recommendations on what solutions to adopt within the organization to bring economies of scale, operational efficiency, and improved patient care.
Monitors and reports the overall performance of clinical information system projects regularly to ensure quality, efficiency, and accuracy to administration.
Ensures that clinical information systems not only address physicians' and other healthcare providers' needs but also utilize processes that support quality standards and regulatory requirements (such as GPRA, IPC, Meaningful Use, etc.
) in the healthcare industry.
Ensures that clinical informaticists possess and consistently display excellence in verbal and written communication, capability for complex workflow analysis and redesign, leadership characteristics, persuasion, appropriate risk-taking, and efficiency in time management and prioritization of work.
Provides leadership when implementing changes in both automated and manual components of the clinical information systems.
Anticipates and responds appropriately to requests and concerns from clinical users or others affected by the systems.
Incorporates effective change management principles to support clinical processes and related software.
Evaluates the impact of clinical software changes on clinical computing, operations, and patient care delivery processes to prevent adverse patient events or disruption in operations.
Collaborates with a team of informatics specialists to anticipate, identify, analyze, prioritize, and facilitate the resolution of user needs and issues.
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of (a) Current trends and issues in healthcare, medical practice, healthcare informatics, and external standards and benchmarks; (b) Policies and procedures as related to clinical practices and legal implications of clinical information systems; (c) Clinical applications currently in use and their relationship to other information systems; (d) Structure and hierarchy of user input processes regarding clinical systems and associated workflows.
Establishes effective interpersonal relationships with all levels of Medical Center personnel.
Promotes an atmosphere that encourages enthusiasm and user participation in clinical computing.
Creates a positive environment for reporting application and/or system deficiencies and suggestions for system improvements and enhanced functionality.
Assist in developing training programs/materials and training clinical staff as changes, enhancements, and new clinical applications are implemented.
Utilize training assessment tools to measure end-user competence and the effectiveness of current training tools/materials.
Coordinates with Department of Health IT staff and other application administrators to implement integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and ensure smooth operations in areas where package scope overlaps or is integrated with other services' functions.
Utilizes and comprehends data analytic trends, including SIGNAL, NEAT, PEP, and Slicer Dicer.
Participates in the procurement process for information technology vendors, managed service providers, and equipment.
Provides procurement recommendations.
Direct work of staff, including supervision, hiring, and terminations; determine staffing needs, and ensure efficient staff utilization.
Holds regular team meetings and meets regularly with direct reports.
Maximizes staff performance and technical expertise through clearly defined objectives, training, skill development, and performance evaluation.
Collaborates with departments within the Chickasaw Nation Departments of Health and Family Services to improve cost efficiency and collects feedback on the user-friendliness of Information Technology Systems.
Uses data analysis results to develop solutions to improve the delivery of healthcare.
Collaborates with the other Applications Managers, advanced leadership, and vendors to provide technical leadership for the implementation and support of software applications, enhancements, and modifications for legacy systems and in scoping, implementation planning, and conversion to new systems.
Work with the Environment and Release Manager to develop a strategy for implementing regular SUs and upgrades and maintenance of Epic systems.
Work with the Training Manager to develop end-user training strategies and training materials.
Participates in regional and national Epic User Groups to share best practices and collaborate on new and enhanced products.
Prepares and recommends short- and long-term goals and objectives for information technology development and support functions supporting the comprehensive healthcare data and technology strategy.
Attends any training required for the position as determined by their line of support or the executive leadership of the Chickasaw Nation.
Also, it is the responsibility of those who supervise, manage, or otherwise lead employees (or teams) to ensure that each employee receives all required training.
